Python 2.7 for iOS App Reviews

Good effort, worth the price

Overall, a very useable Python implementation. If you are at all interested in learning Python, or having it as a tool for minor scripting, I recommend buying this app. The good: there is a script editor with auto indenting that allows you to save and load scripts, and e-mail them. Full documentation is included (a copy of the official Python web site) for easy reference. Start with the Tutorial if you are new to Python. You can easily switch back and forth between the docs and your script to try stuff out. The bad: the user interface is from the 70s. Fortunately you can at least change background and font colors, but the green on black Courier menu font is still annoying. The missing: this isnt a development environment, e.g. no syntax coloring or autocomplete, but for the price Im not complaining. The user interface still needs some tweaking (eg copying command history, moving divider between script and result windows).

Best app

One of the best apps

School Helper 5/5

If I have work from my Comp Sci. Class I can easily do my work on a car ride or somewhere I dont have the ability to pull out my laptop. It is awesome and have saved me alot of marks and time using this. I give this app easily 5/5.

Great app but full of crashes

I am taking a beginners introductory course to python programming at my University and although this is a great app to code on-the-go, I found that it crashes a lot. One instance is when I accidentally tap "run" twice in fast succession, the program freezes (even for a very basic print function) Others might include (I havent thoroughly tested) crashes when you run without saving. When it crashes, you have to manually kill the program (any unsaved part is gone for good... So watch out and save regulary) Then open the program - where it will close by itself, and so open a second time again to get back. That is one major dropback for me. The rest is fine. Because of this, ill give it 3 stars. Thanks for updating these issues. Paul

Great App

This is a really good tool if youre learning Python. Ive found one minor issue so far, but it really hasnt inhibited my use of the app. If youre learning Python, or just need a development scratch pad then you could probably use this app.

IPad grows up..

Best money spent on app store = Best time spent on IPad. - Thankyou.

Needs some work

"While 1: pass" is enough to crash the app! Break button never seems to help. It also uses an ugly mix of fonts and meaningless icons. Hoping for lots of updates!

Now I can finally switch to iPad!

I dont know when this came out but for a while I have been hesitant to use only my iPad at school simply because I couldnt run Python. This app actually is better than the actual Python software for Mac because of the buttons it gives you. Im very satisfied. Well worth the money!

bugs

please fix the bugs. I cant even type input or if in the app after the update! Current iPad version 5.1.1

Buggy

Dont upgrade. I had to buy it twice to get it installed. It kept crashing whenever I typed prin. Emailed the developer, was told me to reinstall.

Fix app!

It doesnt even accept print statements it just crashes please fix!

It does not contain the module numpy. I hope it will be added in the coming update.

Please update it with more modules.

Very nice

I havent used it a lot yet, but I love that you added sqlite3 support, that looks great, thanks! :)

Good but not perfect

The interface is still not very smooth, maybe you can learn something from, "pythonista" which is an another app. Please add more library exactly the numpy library. Thanks

Crashes instantly on startup

This app used to be great, but this latest update crashes during startup on my iPad 1 running 5.1.1. Please fix this...

Totally broken

The app crashes instantly on startup under iOS 5.

crash...

nothing to say i couldnt write anything because of crash

Crashes

Was looking forward to playing with this app but it crashes all the time!. Hopefully it gets fixed.

Latest version crashes

Nice interpreter but there is no way to interrupt a cpu intensive script. For example, running primes.py in the demo directory will inevitably bring the system to a crash.

How can u send ur script out?

How can scripts be sent via email? Overall pretty good. Crashes a lot during the saving script process. But it is saved. Dont worry.
